Dr. Raymond Maxwell, or “Dr. Max,” as his patients know him, has been serving Monroe and neighboring communities since 1995. Dr. Max is highly creative and not just in the unique dinosaur-themed design of his office.  Prior to entering dentistry, he was an amateur cartoonist and was published in the Seattle Times.  He enjoys a good laugh and making the process of orthodontics both enjoyable and efficient.

Dr. Max is very active in the Monroe community and participates in many local service organizations and community activities.  He has been president and treasurer of the Kiwanis club of Monroe, co-member-of-the-year for the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, is a key contributor to the Monroe YMCA, and has been the liaison with the Monroe High School Key Club for the past 5 years.  He coordinates Thanksgiving and Easter food drives benefiting the Sky Valley Food Bank.  He helps local youth through sponsorship of many league and school teams along with sponsoring individual youth projects.  He has been a repeat judge for the Monroe Lip Sync contest and served on the Monroe School District community budget project.  He also supports the Monroe Harvest.

Dr. Max received his dental degree at the University of Washington in 1990, where he graduated with honors as a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society.  He performed individual research while at the University of Washington that was published in the International Journal of Adult Orthodontics and Orthognathic Surgery.  He received his orthodontic specialty training at the University of California in San Francisco and graduated in 1992.  His research in clinical decision-making was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and he was co-recipient of the American Association of Orthodontists’ B. F. and Helen E. Dewel Clinical Orthodontic Award.

Before becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Max worked for King County Metro and Airborne Express as a forms analyst in the Corporate Systems department.  This systems background has been transferred to his practice, where he utilizes the latest in technology to the benefit of his patients.  Dr. Max is committed to improving the care provided to his patients and he and his staff attend many continuing education conferences.  He has been a presenter at the International Assocation for Dental Research, the annual Damon Forum, the Damon Study club and has hosted visiting orthodontists at his practice from Washington and Sweden.

In his spare time, Dr. Max. combines his love of art and photography with traveling.  He enjoys cycling, flying, movies, snorkeling, and spectator sports.  He has strong ties to his family in Washington and his sister in England.  He enjoys attending stage productions and musical concerts.
